Tourism Driving South African Economy

In a new data study by Statistics South Africa, the tourism sector has proven a powerful driving factor behind economic growth and job creation in the country, which has recovered significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, 28 March 2026, the Daughters of the Ummah (DOU) hosted an engaging programme featuring essential discussions focusing on holistic health and Hayd for prospective Hujjaj as well as those performing Umrah.
The event saw an attendance of over 30 ladies at the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre, Sea Cow Lake, Durban.

Fuel Price Levy Softened

In an effort to soften the blow of the rising fuel prices, the National Treasury and the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (DMPR) announced a R3 reduction, with immediate effect, to the general fuel levy.

With the grace and mercy of Allah, this Ramadan, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre facilitated consistent food donations to several different areas across Durban. This included Iftaar provisions, hot meals, drinks, as well as grocery packs.

During Ramadan 2026 in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian men and young boys gathered in the yard of the mosque to recite the Qur’an, from start to finish, before sunset. Over 250 Huffaz gathered to engage in loud recitation, which was known as “Safwat Al-Huffaz”, translated to “The Elite of Quran Memorisers”.
