By observing the doctors himself, Sersek learned how to insert cannulas, attach IV fluids, as well as remove needles. He also assists the hospital staff by bringing them scans and medical supplies for patients.
“This child, himself displaced, arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and saw the doctors and medical teams working around the clock,” Dr Iyad Abu Zaher; Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital director; said. “Frankly, this child is of noble character.”
When the war is over, Sersek hopes to become a doctor.
“When I grow up, I will be a doctor,” he said to Al-Jazeera. “We are afraid for the children. It’s upsetting to see them shaking from fear because of the bombings. God willing, I hope we can go back home safely.”
