After converting to Islam on March 25, Daria Kotsarenko – a Ukrainian woman – died from a heart attack on Friday while fasting. Photos of her funeral attendance went viral on X for attracting hundreds of mourners to the mosque.

Faris Hammadi – a Dubai imam and Islamic content creator – shared that 3 years ago, Daria had shown a genuine interest in the local culture and religion. She eventually carried out extensive research, asked questions, and continued her search for knowledge.

After visiting other countries, 29-year-old Daria returned to Dubai and embraced Islam.

“Even before she embraced Islam, Daria was known for her modesty,” Hammadi said. “She led a virtuous life, devoid of any haram relationships, and dressed modestly. She abstained from alcohol and other prohibited activities.”

Moved by her story, hundreds of expats and Emirates attended the Al Qusais cemetery mosque in Dubai where she was buried, offering funeral prayers.
