On Wednesday this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa was received by Premier of KwaZulu-Natal; Nomusa Dube-Ncube; at the Port of Durban to oversee a historic moment.
The President said, “We are working closely with industry to fix Transnet’s rail and port operations in the immediate term and to ensure greater investment in this infrastructure into the future.”
This comes after the President launched an agreement under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, allowing African countries and eight regional economic communities to work together to remove trade barriers and boost intra-African trade. It is expected to increase growth and development in South Africa.
“Not only will it benefit our country’s producers, but it will also see a huge increase in traffic through our ports, our airports, and our land-based border posts,” Ramaphosa stated.
