Last week, South Africa became the first country to submit an 84-page document to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel’s attack on Palestine which, on the 11th January, they argued are genocidal acts.
South African lawyers presenting the case demanded the immediate suspension of Israel’s military operations in Palestinian territory while highlighting video and statistical evidence of the alleged genocidal acts. The presentation was closed with Irish lawyer Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh’s powerful description of the war being a “crisis of humanity”.
On Friday, 12th January, the hearing will resume with Israel’s legal team’s oral response.
