As part of the interim plan to resolve water challenges faced in areas of Durban, the eThekwini Municipality has begun drilling boreholes in rural wards in the city which are affected by irregular water supply.
“In areas where there is inadequate water infrastructure, the municipality has prioritised funding for the drilling of boreholes. We are pleased to report that teams have already started drilling boreholes,” eThekwini Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, stated.
While the Municipality considers long-term solutions to the ongoing water woes, this project will ensure residents have access to clean and safe water sources. The project includes Ward 3 in Umzinyathi, Ward 59 in oGunjini, Ward 105 in Mfume, and Ward 108 in the eNyoni and Mkhumbane areas.
