On Wednesday morning, Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda of eThekwini has said on East Coast Radio Breakfast that he vows to demolish more abandoned buildings in the Durban city centre.

Approximately 84 derelict buildings have been identified; some of which are also illegally occupied.

“We’ve gone to court, and the court has given us the right to demolish some of those bad buildings at the Point area, and I think we have demolished more than six of those buildings. There is one that we are still awaiting a decision,” Kaunda stated.
