Scheduled to continue through the week, a multidisciplinary team has campaigned to clean the Durban Central Business District taxi ranks.
Led by the eThekwini Transport Authority, the clean-up efforts aim to restore the CBD by repairing damaged infrastructure and cleaning the Lorne Street, Mansfield, and Centenary taxi ranks.
Additionally, City employees also tended to plumbing faults, unblocked drains, illegal dumping, defective electrical equipment, and vandalised infrastructure, which is a huge problem the municipality faces. The Department of Home Affairs also assisted the homeless and hosted educational talks with commuters addressing the issue of vandalism to infrastructure.
Next week, the campaign will focus on the Dalton and Umngeni areas.
