Amid the youth employment crisis the country faces, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi – in partnership with UberEats South Africa – seeks to provide 10,000 young people with jobs.
According to Lesufi, this opportunity will provide youth with motorbikes, skills, and necessary funding to get started.
Approximately R200 million has been invested by the Gauteng Department of Economic Development in an effort to create jobs for drivers in the e-commerce sector. This includes sales opportunities for products in townships so that they can reach markets in different communities.
“Thanks to UberEats for sharing our vision,” Lesufi said. “We will pump this economy from all sides. Less talk, more work.”
