In the statement released by the eThekwini Municipality ahead of the 2023 BRICS Urbanisation Summit, Council has approved grant funding for two prominent entities in Durban: the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) and uShaka Marine World.

The statement includes the approved 2023/2024 budget for the respective entities, with the ICC’s amounting to R15m and uShaka’s to R129m.

“These funds will be disbursed to support the work undertaken by the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR), uShaka Operations, capital projects, and repairs and maintenance,” reads the statement.
