During the Ramadan season of 2023, the hotel and accommodation sector in Makkah saw a significant surge in hotel occupancy rates, which reached 80%--the highest it’s reached in 3 years. This data was released by the Hajj and Umrah Committee at Makkah Chamber.
Hotel prices during the holy month have also seen an increase due to high demand, especially in the last 10 days of Ramadan.
Abdullah Al-Qadi – Chairman of the Hajj and Umrah Committee at the Makkah Chamber – stated that the pricing of hotel rooms in Makkah are subject to certain criteria and supply and demand, in addition to the proximity to the Grand Mosque.
Room prices in the central area of Makkah were between SR35,000-SR55,000, but have increased to SR45,000-SR90,000 for the last 10 days of Ramadan due to a rise in operation expenses, food prices, and high demand.
According to workers in Makkah, the current Ramadan season has witnessed an exceptional turnout. This is especially due to the easing of visas and the facilitations provided by Saudi Arabia to pilgrims from abroad, which resulted in the high demand for hotel rooms within the central area of Makkah.
