On Sunday; 29 January 2023; Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal inaugurated the Hira Cultural District at the district’s headquarters located at the foot of Mount Hira, Makkah.
As part of Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives, the Hira Cultural District aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims. It consists of the Revelation Gallery, the Holy Quran Museum, and various other cultural services.
The Revelation Gallery seeks to highlight the revelations made to the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) through a technical presentation in which visitors can enjoy a real-dimension model of Hira cave—the site in which he received the first revelation of the Holy Quran. Additionally, the gallery aims to acquaint visitors with the history and legacy of the Prophet Muhammed (SAW)’s mission through pre-Islamic and present era presentations.
The Holy Quran Museum will display the sacred text, and depicts its impact on the lives of Muslims through modern technologies. Furthermore, the museum will display a collection of precious manuscripts.
Work is also underway to create a road and put in place signs and safety measures for those wishing to climb the mountain to reach the cave.
