SIERRA LEONE: The Goodwill Humanitarian Foundation in Sierra Leone has organised the first Islamic Mental Health and Youth Summit, as a way of promoting this sensitive subject within the country.
The programme took place over the weekend at the Freetown City Council Auditorium, in Freetown under the theme of 'Role of Islam in addressing Mental Health issues for National Development'.
The summit attracted many youth group leaders from across the country and was hailed a success by CEO of the Goodwill Foundation, Mohamed Kamara.
“Such a summit will ensure Muslims and non-Muslims have an understanding of mental health in the country,” he said.
"The event was to raise awareness regarding mental health and ensure that we work together as a community and help in constructing the first Islamic Youth Mental Health Rehab Centre in Sierra Leone.
