FRANCE: The French city of Toulouse opened its doors to the biggest masjid in the area this week following a project that took more than seven years.

The Mirail Mosque can accommodate 4,000 people and is bigger than all the local salaah facilities in Toulouse put together.

According to reports, the opening of the masjid comes at a time when France’s churches are closing their doors across the country.

France currently has an estimated 2,800 masaajid, with a further 400 under construction. It also has the largest Muslim population of any country in Europe.
