Makkah Mukarramah: The rules that applied during the month of Ramadan will continue to be applied at Masjidul Haram in Makkah Mukarramah over the next few weeks.
This means that only those that have been vaccinated against the coronavirus or those who have recovered from the disease can only perform Umrah and perform salah inside the venue.
According to the health ministry, only those who have received either one dose or two doses of a vaccine approved in Saudi Arabia and those who have recovered from Covid-19 will be able to apply and receive permits.
The new measures were unveiled and implemented at the beginning of Ramadan, allowing locals to get Umrah and prayer permits through applications such as Eatmarna and Tawakkalna.
Currently, an individual can get a Umrah permit through applications once a month but the ministry said the rule may be later modified, allowing the beneficiary to get another permit after 15 days.
