According to Creecy, an increase of 144% of drivers testing positive for alcohol in 2025 were reported compared to the previous year.
Committee Chairperson, Donald Selamolela, stated, “It has become clear that driving under the influence of alcohol has reached alarming levels, resulting in unnecessary loss of life.”
The proposed consequences for drivers under the influence of alcohol is potentially a lifetime ban from possessing a driving licence.
