Contemporary Challenges in the Spotlight at Darul Ihsan Learner Development Programme

On Saturday, 16 September 2023, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre’s quarterly ‘Learner Development Programme’ was held.

Held at the centre's Head Quarters in Sea Cow Lake, Durban, a enthusiastic group of 70 learners attended the programme; with guest speaker Moulana Yunus Dudhwala from the United Kingdom who shared his experiences and engaged the youth with his insightful and informative presentation.

The special guest highlighted various contemporary challenges facing the youth across the globe, while also providing practical advices on ways of defending oneself against ideological challenges that threaten faith and identity. Additionally, Moulana had also enlightened the youth by drawing on several real-life incidents that transpired in the United Kingdom.

Mufti Zubair Bayat – the Ameer of Darul Ihsan – also addressed the participants. The Q&A session was a highlight amongst attendees, with many modern-day challenges dominating the discussion.

A participant stated: “The youth programme on Saturday was aimed at raising awareness about critical social issues, such as the agenda of LGBTQ+, and their detrimental effect on society. It was a well-structured and thoughtfully designed endeavour, and it provided a safe and open platform for young individuals to engage in much needed discussions, gain knowledge, and ultimately receive eye-opening insight into the state of society.”

Another attendee remarked: “The exceptional speakers at the youth programme truly left a lasting impression. Their ability to eloquently convey complex ideas, engage the audience with compelling stories, and inspire action was nothing short of remarkable. Their passion and deep knowledge on the subject were evident, and they had a unique gift for making challenging topics accessible and relatable. The impact of their words will undoubtedly resonate with all of us for a long time…”

The Learner Development Programme has seen steady growth over 3 years of its existence.

The Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre provides a range of educational, awareness, leadership, and mentorship programmes for secondary and tertiary education learners.
These programmes are a free service to our community and can be accessed by prior arrangement at the Centre or can be requested from the institute.
