A flagship affordable housing project is in the process of being assigned to R100 million worth of prime property released by the City of Cape Town in the Central Business District (CBD).
The property spans approximately 9,000 square metres, and being situated on New Market Street, offers convenient access to major transportation routes, essential services, as well as job opportunities.
According to the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Carl Pophaim, this partnership project could potentially create around 500 housing units. About 200 of those units are planned to be designated for individuals and families earning less than R22,000 a month.
Pophaim stated that this move is expected to provide for those in need of affordable housing in the Cape Town city centre.
