DURBAN: The Durban Central Business District is tackling service delivery challenges through the multi-disciplinary Rapid Response Team (RRT).
The team was deployed to the heart of the city late last month to address service delivery challenges.
Part of the duties of the RRT was to issue traffic fines, target illegal trading, noise pollution, the washing of taxis on the road and the removal of litter in the drainage system.
They also focused on clearing illegal dumping, cleaning unhygienic areas, repairing streetlights, fixing potholes, and addressed health related issues including fire hazards and non-compliance to by-laws by business owners.
Specific locations they worked on were Soldiers Way around the Workshop, Denis Hurley and Bertha Mkhize Streets.
Pinetown, Mayville and Bonela are some of the other areas that have been cleaned by the RRT recently.
