Completed this month, the project allowed for local employment opportunities, skills development, and uplifted the community. Now completed, the facility is expected to generate approximately 300 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean energy, which will be supplied to the national grid.
“This milestone represents a significant contribution to South Africa’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy mix, strengthen energy security, and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy,” said the Government and Information System (GCIS) on Thursday. “Initiatives such as these play a vital role in addressing unemployment, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and building resilient economies.”
