Daughters of the Ummah host enlightening programme on Palestine

On Friday afternoon, 20 October, the Daughters of the Ummah (DOU) youth initiative collaborated with online Islamic academy Ummah Heart to present the event ‘The Land of Palestine’.

The gathering saw an attendance of well over 100 sisters of diverse ages, young and old. Hosted at the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre in Sea Cow Lake, the programme sought to provide an understanding of the history of Palestine and it’s importance to Muslims. With the grace of Allah, it was presented by esteemed Ummah Heart founder and director Ustada Zaahira Karrim.

The importance equipping oneself with sound knowledge in the face of trials, so that one may understand what one stands for, was stressed. The virtue of the land of Palestine, and it’s rich connection with the Ambiya (A.S) through the ages was explained.

Throughout the gathering, Ustadhah stressed the importance of positivity, hope, unity and the power of prayer. Each story presented provided similar lessons in using one’s sincere emotions to pray for peace in this difficult and trying time for the Palestinian Ummah.

An attendee remarked, “It was really informative and enlightening. I learnt so much about Palestine that I didn’t know. I’m also amazed by the fantastic turnout.”
